Visio and Project are Microsoft's specialized tools — diagramming and project management respectively. Both ship in Standard and Professional perpetual editions. The Pro premium buys collaboration and enterprise data features.
Visio: Standard vs Professional

- •Professional — adds BPMN 2.0/UML support, data-linked diagrams, AutoCAD import, more stencils
- •Choose Pro if: you diagram databases, network topologies, or engineering workflows
Project: Standard vs Professional
- •Standard — Gantt charts, task scheduling, resource management, reporting
- •Professional — adds Project Online/Server connectivity, Skype integration, team collaboration
